By AirFrankfurt Flughafen is the Germany's largest airport and is only about 110 km (about 69 miles) from Kaiserslautern . A train from Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof to Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof (Kaiserslautern central Rail station) costs about 25 Euro and takes about 1½ hours.Alternatively, one can arrive via Flughafen Saarbrücken, which is the closest airport to Kaiserslautern. Taxis and bus number 27 connect Flughafen Saarbrücken to Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof (Saarbrücken central Rail station), from where frequent trains operate to Kaiserslautern. A taxi costs about 25 Euro and takes about 20 minutes. Bus number 27 connects Flughafen Saarbrücken to Brebach from where one can then take the Saarbahn to Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof. A train from Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof to Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof costs about 15 Euro and takes about 40 minutes. Further information about the German trains schedules and rates are available via the DB Travel Planer There are also airports in Frankfurt Hahn and Zweibrücken, which are geographical quite close. But it is difficult to reach Kaiserslautern from there by public transportation. If you have any other means of transportation, i.e. car rental, you may get a bargain flight to Frankfurt Hahn, which is the major hub of Ryainair in Germany. Please be advised, that Frankfurt Hahn is around two hours from Frankfurt Am Main.

By TrainTake a train ( Deutsche Bahn AG, German Railroad Company) to Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof (Kaiserslautern central railway station). From there, you can reach Kaiserslautern University by taxi or by bus. A trip by taxi from the train station to the university campus costs about 6-8 Euro. Tipping is included in the basic fare and not expected unless an extra service is performed, such as carrying luggage. Bus number 5 departs from the bus stop (direction Uni-Wohngebiet ) in front of the rail station, and operates all day, approximately every 30 minutes. The most convenient way to reach building 42 of the university is to get off at the bus stop Abzweig Universität, and cross the bridge.
By BusThe connections between the downtown area and the university campus are essentially operated by three buses (5, 14 and 15). All buses run about every 30 minutes during peak hours. On Monday to Friday, bus service begins around 6:00 a.m and stops around 23:00 p.m.On Saturday and Sunday, the bus service is more scarce. Bus stops are identified by a yellow and green H sign, which stands for Haltestelle. There are several bus stops on campus, Uni Ost, Uni Süd, Abzweig Uni, and Davenport-Platz, which is near the campus shopping area.
