On Friday, October 24 the Department of Mathemtics holds a ceremonial act on the occasion of Professor Günther Trautmann's retirement. Dr Trautmann has been a professor at the department since 1972. The colloquium "Moduli and Mirrors" in his honour will be held on the following day October 25.

The research of Günther Trautmann is grouped around holomorphic vector bundles on complex varieties, in particular on projective spaces. It focuses on their deformation theory and the construction of moduli spaces. Applications lie in the Yang-Mills theory and instantons in mathematical physics.
