Spherical wavelets as introduced by the Geomathematics Group Kaiserslautern can be applied to spherical harmonic models of the Earth's gravitational field like EIGEN-1S, EIGEN-2, EIGEN-GRACE01S, GGM01S, UCPH2002_0.5 and EGM96. Thereby the localizing properties of spherical wavelets and their approximating capacity is shown. In order to make our results available to other interested groups we calculated wavelet models from these spherical harmonics models and provide the resulting wavelet coefficients on this webpage. We considered the following types of wavelets and calculated corresponding wavelet coefficients for them: Shannon, Cubic Polynomial (CuP) and Abel-Poisson (AP). Links to the detailed description of the models and the coefficients themselves can be found below.

The results of this project have been presented at the CHAMP Science Meeting in Potsdam in September 2003. The posters of that presentation can be downloaded below (PDF).
